Scam Description
Hi I’m reaching out because I was scammed on Instagram. A woman who appeared to be an artist reached out to me and asked if she could use one of my pictures for a mural project. She told me I would receive payment, credits and bonuses and that it was a project for a client. She told me the type of paint that would be used and the size of the canvas and picked one of my pictures that she wanted to use and asked me if that was okay and I said yes. A check was sent to me the next day in which I had to deposit into my bank account electronically and send 3 different ppl part of the funds for painting supplies, well that’s what I was told. I should have known better but I still fell for it and sent 3 random people the funds and the rest was supposed to be mine. She then sent me another check the next day and I scanned that into my account as well. Shortly after that, I received an email from bank with a hold on my account and now I’m in the negative and have to pay the money back. The bank is also taking my account away from me and I can no longer be one of their customers, and now I have to get a whole new bank account on top of owing them thousands of dollars. Like I said I should not have been this dumb and yes I feel very stupid but I was vulnerable I don’t have a job right now so I needed the money but now I’m left with nothing and debt. So please learn from my mistake and do not fall for anything like this
