Scam Description
I was contacted by 1804 jackboy records. They told me they wanted to offer me a record deal. They then sent documents on an endorsement fee so I paid part of it. About $80 bucks I sold like $800 worth of shoes to get a little bit of money for the endorsement. So I paid $80 of the $300. I thought that they would walk away!
I’ve seen jackboy in Instagram live more lately! These past weeks! So it makes me feel like I am inspired to become apart of this label. I don’t want to be scammed out of my music my time and money. Today he had offered me shares to the company! It sounds amazing to get offered a percentage of the companies earnings! So I asked if I had to come out of pocket and he tells me! Their are bids on the shares! Then tells me ill get my deal and first year salary of $150k and percentage of the shares. That I only have a few hours to pay. They made me a bank account and sent me the card for the salary. Then he has me waiting on a letter from the irs. What it may read that I don’t know! They even offered to fly me to LA to sign the final contract since I had only paid the $80 they said they rescheduled the flight to LA and that I have to wait for the letter from the irs to receive my flight schedule.
So I paid the remaining $220 dollars. And I thought that they would walk away! So I avoided giving any money out of pocket towards the shares. I just don’t know I am doing the right thing or if I am getting scammed! I’ve had record deals where you do have to pay the label one for a RIAA record label he said I needed about 40k just to sign. Another label offered me a distribution deal but I had to pay up to $3500 dollars to sign that deal. Now jackboy Is offering a deal a salary and an endorsement for $300! No other label gave me a salary. I thought that’s what I needed was a salary with the deal. I heard million dollar deals give you $500k upfront the day that you sign you get them the album or the songs they need and you get paid the other half of the million dollars over the length of the contract. So I just don’t know the process so I am making a report on this record label until I get exactly what the deal says I just want to be safe and have my information secured with the right people you know!
