Scam Description
My 89yr old father was contacted by someone who said that he was representing Fora Travel Corp., in Mexico, who wanted to buy my father’s timeshare in Bahia Principe, Mexico. At first this individual offered $19,000, but my father refused. Then they offered $25,000 for the sale. My father then directed the individual to send the sales contract to his granddaughter who subsequently sent it to (me) his son. The sales contract came from the law offices of Chancey Thompson, 10440N. Central Expy Dallas Tx, 752311 (469)895-7080. The contract is NOT like any sales contract I have ever seen before. I did my due diligence and found via The Texas Bar Association only one attorney by the name of Chancey Thompson, with the same address as above, but with a different telephone number. I phoned that number and spoke to the real Mrs. Chancey Thompson, (a female) who verified that the above was a reported scam. She mainly deals with tax issues and nothing involving real estates or selling of Timeshare properties in Mexico. I then called the (469) number listed on the contract and it was quickly answered by what sounded like a very professional outfit. I asked to speak to Mr. Thompson and instead was put through “Scott” (would not provide me his last name) who quickly verified he was the one that had spoken to my father and daughter. I asked to speak to Mr. Thompson and “Scott” said that he was not available and that HE (Thompson) usually does not get involved in these type of issues, “That’s why he has us for”. I then told “Scott” about the conversation I had with the real Thompson and that I believed he and his organization to be a fraud. I also told him that I was reporting them to the FBI, and at that point “Scott” immediately hung up the phone!
