Scam Description
I was having a problem with eBay so looked up their customer service # on Google. A person said they could fix the problem, but that our account had been breached. In order to block the jackets which were supposedly in 3 different areas; Ohio, Florida, and Mexico. I was told to go to a store like Kroger or CVS and purchase an eBay gift card, they stayed on the phone with me the whole time, even told me what I had purchased most recently on eBay. They seemed so legitimate. Anyway I couldn’t find an eBay card with a range amount so they said to buy a Nordstrom gift card. Assuring me they would refund the amount I had to purchase which was 500.00. so I purchased one, then was transferred to a refund department and that person told me the gift card would only take care of one of the jackets do I needed to purchase two more 500 dollar cards. I was in tears thinking this can’t be right but they reassured me I would be refunded when the problem was solved. The store clerks at Kroger told me it was a scam and not to purchase the 2 extra gift cards.
I had been disconnected two times from the scammers and they called me back immediately, these are two other numbers from which they called: (713)643-3663 and (916)468-4532.
So far the gift card I had purchased and gave info to the scammer had tried to be used to buy 5 one hundred dollar duffle bags was flagged and was not able to be used. So hopefully my 500 dollars purchased by my credit card for the gift card will be credited back to my credit card.
