Scam Description

I apparently had a trojan on my computer on August 30,2022, and began to seek help. Quite honestly, I do not remember who directed me to this company. We were on the phone for quite some time during which I allowed them to log onto my computer. I was already not happy with IT support after Best Buy lost all the data on my hard drive. I accept blame for failure to adequately back up before they worked on it.
After considerable discussion and dour warnings of again losing my data on my new hard drive, I agreed to work with on my computer. In order to do so, they required that I scan a copy of my check and send it to them. They ran the check through twice. After they got my computer up and running again, they called to advise me about the check being run twice and that they would rectify that. I have talked with them twice then and still do not have the refund. The agent I spoke with identified himself as Austun Anderson, Ext. 4015
I realize I made so many mistakes and hope this doesn’t happen to other people. When I tried to call the 2 numbers they installed on my toolbar today, 8779848494, and 8882729303, I get a message the number cannot be reached as dialed.
