Scam Description
I had purchased McAfee virus protection and had an issue downloading it So I called the number on the site I bought it from and they pretended to be tech support for company. They said there was major problems with my computer and also our neighborhood network. They said I had trojans and viruses that could potentially ruin all my electronics. We spoke to a lady named Jenny Wilson and as a Customer Service Rep I knew you never give your last name or full name so red flags kept coming to me. They kept telling me it could ruin our whole neighborhood computers because it was embedded in our neighborhood network. I told her I thought she was a scammer and the high pressure started. Asked to speak to a supervisor and they hung up. So I called Broadstar my service provider and they asked for number I called. He said it was a scam. He gave me the number for McAfee. I called the real number, and they had my initial purchase of 60.00 but said they never talked to me that day I called and was hung up on 3 times to get my money back. They did refund my money and I cancelled my credit card I put it on. McAfee seemed like they didn’t care that I got scammed by number on their website. I spent like 5 hours trying to get my money back. It was ridiculous.
