Scam Description
I just started using Instacart last week. One week later a YouTube Ad popped up saying they were doing a survey to improve their grocery stores. They pictured the little shopping cart you see if ordering on Instacart. If I filled out a 30 second survey I had 2 chances to win a $500 Walmart gift card by choosing boxes. I won a gift card. But then they wanted $4.55 shipping fee and my address. NO! That’s when I stopped. It’s a scam. I’m worried about two things – I’m not sure if the screen for the scam is closed. Can’t find it open anywhere. Will restart phone. Also, how did they know I was a new online food delivery customer? That scares me. I’ve been getting YouTube Instacart ads since I started using Instacart. I bet the scam ads are linked to online delivery services. Whenever they ask for money to send you your prize it’s a scam. They would have had my debit card #, address, phone and/or email. I know other scams where ppl get the gift card but then their debit card is charged for large sums of money.
