Scam Description
caller pretended to be from dish network, said my receiver was out of date and needed a new one. I gave them my PIN because they asked for verification. they said they would send me a new receiver, and that I needed to pay $350, but our bill would go down for the next 2 years to comp back the $350. I got the receiver from Dish, I installed it, when I had problems, I called Dish and they helped me. The guy even called back to follow up to make sure I got the receiver and everything worked fine. He seemed a little pushy and kept asking when I would mail the check. But when it came time to mail the check, something in my gut didn’t feel right. I called Dish and found out it was a scam. Once they had my PIN, they called Dish to ask for a new receiver, so that’s why it looked real. They were just wanting my $350. I’m glad I figured it out before I mailed the check.
