Scam Description
I had looked up car rentals online and came across what was called Hertz Rental. I called the number they listed online and spoke with someone who claimed to be an agent with the rental company. They advised me to go to Walgreens and purchase a prepaid card and a gift card. I was asked to put $317 on a prepaid card and $300 on a eBay gift card. I then was told to take a picture of my purchase and send it to the number they provided. A rental car was provided and the pick up location was at our local Walgreens. After the return date, I tried to reach out to the rental for my deposit refund and the call would not go through. I then went to Hertz rental and they could not find my name in their system. I then learned it was a scam.
