Scam Description
I was in search for affordable housing. I called 211 and they recommended I call 216-284-7192. When I called this number I couldn’t make out what the name of the company was. They were gonna offer assistance to getting the credit score raised. They asked that I send a photo ID and an email address so they can send me a listing of cheap rental housing available in my area. They would be sent through her phone. I didn’t feel comfortable giving them information so I ended the call. I later received a text from a woman named Ann Stevens from the same number. She wanted me to call to set up the service but I didn’t. The next day I received a call from a person named Van claiming to be with Cheap Rentals. He called from (424) 544-5244. He wanted to start service and I told them I would be checking in with the BBB to verify who you are.
