Scam Description
Posted a rental unit on zillow, address 1025 Pennsylvania st Denver, CO 80203. The “landlord”, Michael, emailed me and said my application was approved and said “in order to proceed, you would have to secure the property by signing the lease and making the necessary payments in order for us to take the home off the rental market and reserve it for you against your desired move-in date as we have other qualified applicants who are also very interested in renting the home but we decided to go with you.” We asked a couple questions via email which he answered and then he sent us a lease.
The big thing that should have been a red flag was that the Zelle account wasn’t in his name or attached to his email. It was attached to Heidi Mendham and heidimendham@gmail.com.
