Scam Description
I received a call from Amazon and it was a voice message indicating that there was a purchase of $1,000 made to my account and if I didn’t make that purchase, then press #1. I pressed #1 and spoke with a gentleman. I told him that I was looking at my Amazon account and my last purchase was in July. He told me that Apple Airpods were bought and mailed to 49 Arcadia Ct., Albany, NY. He went on to suggest that my identity must have been taken and that it was possible if I was out shopping. I asked how the purchase was paid for and he told me from my bank account. I asked how that was even possible because I don’t use my debit card for purchases on-line and don’t provide my bank account information to anyone. He then told me there were 3 Amazon accounts with my name and that he would need to patch me thru to my bank to get this sorted out. I asked how he would know my bank and he told me he could see that I have 5-6 accounts and was that right. I asked what bank he would patch me thru to and he told me he could see that I used Chase, Forest, Capital One, and Regional. I told him I would handle things with my bank if there was any issues and Good-Bye. Please find this scammer.
