Scam Description
Earlier this spring, I purchased a car. Within a couple of months I began to receive odd letters in the mail. The most recent one is from “United Automotive Services” signed by Paul Frederick notifying me that i need to call the “toll free” number in the letter, give them my VIN, current mileage or otherwise my car factory warranty is about to expire (not true). The letter contains a QR code at the top, along with a fake Customer ID number. They top it off by saying they will revoke my eligibility for coverage if I do not meet their criteria by Mar 25, 2024. Another type of letter was from the “Acura Vehicle Services Division” with a similar message requesting VIN info, and that my vehicle coverage will expire. I ended by calling them and shared VIN. So far no loss as i realized during call that it is a scam. He tried to take money saying advance for coverage.
