Scam Description
Got a voicemail from someone saying this was the final attempt to be contacted and that my place of employment would be and someone would be showing up at my residence. My father also got this call saying they were looking for me the area code was local to me however the number they gave me to call was a (866) number. Called the number and was not greeted by a business name just a “hello my name is blah blah blah” they hounded me to get the last 4 of my social saying there was a “complaint” about me in my county and if I were to be taken to court I’d need to pay $1800 but if I settled it would be around $500 and could do payment plans. The debt they talked about was something from a loan I took out years prior and was never on my credit report. I asked for the business name. All they gave was “Westfield” and that they were a proceedings office. I asked for the website, she said they didn’t have one. I asked what state they were located in, she said she can’t provide that. But later said they were on the east coast. I asked if they could send me some kind of proof of this complaint. She said I would only be receiving an email ONLY after the first payment of the installment was made. This all sounds very fishy.
