Scam Description
I am buying a house and the day the lending company ran my credit, I experienced a torrent of messages and phone calls. This amounted to nearly 20 separate attempts at contact on the first day alone. The calls were all ignored but each one has left a lengthy message asking for my personal information and attempting to get me to disclose my account info. The text messages are either tricky or aggressive, and always from an unknown number. Some start like: “Hey (my name), whats up” or “Hey (my name), can you call me really quick”. With my work, I talk to dozens of people every day, not all of whom I have their numbers saved, so this led me to engage and immediately realized I was being spammed/phished. I have stopped responding, but continue to get messages throughout the day such as “Let me know either way…”, “Just checking in…”, or “Are you there”. One person even addressed me by my last name, as people do in the military (I am active duty), and when I responded thinking it was someone I work with, they began texting me non stop trying to get me to give them my information. I want these messages to stop and I am tired of these predatory tactics.
