Scam Description
On 3/22/2023 I got a pop-up on my computer scree that said my computer had been infected by a Trojan. It included a phone number for Microsoft Support of 888-626-1842. When I called the number I gave access to my computer to the tech at Elitex IP Security. He showed me all the viruses and errors and had me call Novatech at 321-214-6321. Novatech then removed the viruses and made changes to the computer. They had me scan my check for payment. The check was made out to Novatech for $444. They sent me 3 pages of do’s and don’ts and a password and security question for when I have problems. I wasn’t sure if it was a scam so I called my bank on 3/23/2023 and they put a hold on the payment. Elitex IP is supposed to contact me today between 12 and 1:00 to see how the computer is doing. They tell me I have signed up for a year of security and tech support. That was included in the $444 charge.
