Scam Description
My daughter’s Facebook account was signed in from another state. She immediately went on and could not log in from her phone or computer so she went online and looked for a number which she called and they answered as customer support for facebook. They then told her all the steps she needed to take to because it is likely if she was using the FB app on her phone that they got into her phone. They said they were from the legal department I believe and said there was a big breech. (this was on the news…happened at MSU). They said they needed to have her download an app to her phone so they could see what was breeched and she let them. They also said they needed to make sure it was her and she had to send them a picture. She did all the while thinking it was facebook. Someone now has tried to open a Square account under her name. So I called the number and after asking them to prove they were facebook and I wasn’t going to give them my phone number they hung up on me. When I try to call back it rings once and then disconnects. This leads me to believe she was scammed. I am trying to get ahold of FB but it’s difficult.
