Scam Description
I was reached out to via text message after applying for a job on indeed for a data entry position. Via text I was asked a few questions about of I was interested in the job and what experience I had. I was then told to download zoom to conduct a further interview which I didn’t think anything of at first as I have done virtual interviews in the past. I was then told it would only be a instant message interview and not via video chat or phone. Red flag. So again I was asked basic interview questions and was told to wait for response on moving on. Was then told I got the job and equipment would be sent to me, rather quickly but that I would have to install a time tracker on the laptop to get paid. In which they said they use a third party for that and they would send me a check to deposit in my bank to pay for that. They kept sending messages with about the same wording asking if I agreed and so on. I then went to the actual company website and there was a posting about job fraud so I sent an email to the department handling that. When I confronted the person that I believed it was a scam I was almost immediately blocked. Thankfully I have screen shot images of the entire conversation.
