Sorry in advance for the long rant. Not sure if this is the best place for this post. I recently messaged a guy on Facebook marketplace about renting a Polaris rzr. Messaged him may 5th asking if it would be available for memorial weekend. He replied yes and I said I was interested. He then said he requires a deposit of half the rental cost (400$) and half of the damage deposit (1000$) and said I could Venmo him. I sent him the 1400 and he said he would send me a contract and form for selecting time for pickup/ dropoff. Fast forward to today (Friday before memorial weekend) he tells me his “system was messed up” someone had it rented it out for Sunday but he did not realize it. He had some elaborate plan where I would use it Saturday , he would have someone pick it up Saturday and drop it back off to me on Monday with a discount. I told him I was not comfortable with this and that I did not want to rent it anymore and requested a refund. He then told me he has a no refund policy and he will only refund the damage deposit. Already talked to my bank to dispute the charge and made a ticket with Venmo support. What else can I do? I am still trying to get my money back by talking to him but I’m not sure what to say. He just says “it’s policy” and “it was a system error.”
