Scam Description

Please do not order from any ad in Facebook Marketplace that is “Sponsored” I have reports 100’s since this happened to no avail. Facebook claims they have removed a coupe but for everyone I report 10 more pop up. So avoid them at all costs. I pretty much knew it couldn’t be real but decided to take a chance. It was for a bookstore supposedly closing for good. There are links in the ad that will take you an actual supposed stores website. You place an order for this great sale of books and they claim shipping will occur within 1 day and reach you within 3-5 days. They will offer free shipping if you spend $30 or more. Once you place the order you get this confirmation email. After a coupe days they will send another email that now includes a link w a tracking number to click on follow your shipments progress. But now if not already should be your first red flag because the package is now supposedly coming from China. This will go on for days and eventually it will say it arrived in the United States and is travelling in the USPS network. Long before this I called my credit card company and reported this and in 2 days I had a refund through my CC company. I decided to continue to follow this and discovered that the tracking website is also part of this elaborate scheme. They use the tracking site 718track.com (completely fake). The eventual end to this scam is either suddenly the tracking site says the package was delivered when in fact it has not. But at this point the company now has this information to use if you try to dispute they say here’s delivery confirmation and you are screwed. The other option is what my package is now saying. It’s been supposedly delivered somewhere and you must now schedule to pick it up (they have the nerve to add “Please be aware you have a limited time to schedule this pick-up. There is no ultimatum but you can bet it will be that you didn’t schedule in time and package was returned to sender. I think it’s a travesty that Facebook allows these ads to run rampant in their marketplace. It is also a travesty that this is all I can do and no one is working to shut these sites down. I wish I could do more. But I hope this submission to BBB will help someone who is being, will be, or has been scammed by these sites. Have included some screenshots showing the tracking site and website for this one scam. But please know the store itself is so elaborate that are literally at least 25 ads running at the same time with all different names and websites and they are the same scammer.
