Scam Description
Looked for a used car in Marketplace, asked if car available and was referred to email mellyadr12@gmail.com. She asked for name, address and phone number and Ebay Motors will send an invoice and once I agreed with the conditions to purchase Ebay gift cards worth $1200 cost of the vehicle. Obtained the gift cards, but 3 cards went through however the other 3 were defective. Informed Ebay Motors and said that they need the balance. The numbers on each card were verbally give to the Ebay rep. Unfortunately, Walmart declined our our purchase of American Express gift card due to scammers activity going on. I showed Walmart the email from Ebay Motors and said this was a scam. I called Ebay to cancel the transaction . The lad from Ebay said we will get a refund the following day via UPS. Following day came and no check was received. Instead I got an email with a different buyer’s name but using my email that I need to come up with $1000 for shipping insurance which was refundable when I get the car.
To follow up my refund, I called back and spoke with a representative reminding her of my refund but she hang up on me. I called back with the tel no. they provided and it said both were no longer a working numbers!
The seller sent pictures of the vehicle plus her Montana DL and US Army ID. Just sad to know if the seller is involved in this scam dealings.
