Scam Description
Upstates Miniature Schnauzers has an online profile and posted photos of several puppies available for sale. I inquired about a puppy and asked several questions. I even asked for a video of the dog, which I received. After answering their questions, receiving a contract for the sale of the dog, and speaking with my family. We purchased the dog using the Chase Zelle app. When I received “shipping” information on the puppy, the shipping company Paws Wings Express sent an “urgent” message requiring me to purchase a $1300.00 life insurance policy before the puppy could be delivered. Of course, they wanted payment through Zelle again for payment. I did not pay the $1300.00 because I knew at that point I was being scammed. I had concerns about being scammed prior to receiving the message about insurance but I didn’t listen to my gut. Lesson learned
