Scam Description

They offered us a great low rate on a cross country move. Under $4000 including shipping a car. They said the car would be secure in the truck and the first red flag was them arriving in a U-Haul too small to fit my car. The (male) movers also lectured my roommate and I (women) on traditional gender roles and would not stop when I told him to. The 30+ minutes he took to waste our time on this matter added to the price due to hidden hourly fees! Hidden fees added nearly $5000 more to our total. The worst part of course was after they left my house. The driver immediately turned his location off so I had no idea where he was. The “dispatcher”, Halo, was incredibly rude, unhelpful, and a poor communicator. I was asking on a daily basis for the driver’s location and ETA and never got a clear answer. What should have been a 4 day trip turned into 2 weeks and left me stranded in a new city without my belongings or my car or any clue where they were. “Customer service” was also of no help at all. There has been an obscene lack of communication and after digging deeper and filing a police report, I’ve come to accept that I have been scammed and don’t know if I will ever see my things again.
