Scam Description

My elderly neighbor hired these two men to do repair masonry work on our shared chimney. These men knocked on my door saying that they could fix my chimney at the same time for $1500. I asked for an estimate in writing. He said he would slip it under my door. A few hours later, he knocked again and said that the work was finished. I never agreed on the price or received the estimate in writing or for them to start work on my half of the chimney. After I said I didn’t agree to this, they got very defensive and started arguing with me that I needed to pay. I looked at their website on their business card and I believe the company name and website are fake. They bullied me (a woman) into paying $1000. When I wrote the check they asked me to not make it out to the company name, but directly to Peter O’driscoll. I didn’t want to pay them but I was home alone at the time and felt intimidated. I asked questions about the website and company legitimacy he got really mad.
