Scam Description

The scammer called as Deputy James Felch with the Madison County Processing Department. He called because there was a warrant for my arrest for not attending court appointed jury case, which I had supposedly received and signed a subpoena on March 15, 2024 at my home address. I was provided a failure to attend case number. He informed me I could handle this as a criminal case where I will need to turn myself in and post bail or I could choose a civil process. He mentioned there were 4 special conditions if I chose the civil process and I would need to go to an approved kiosk to pay the $200 and $250 fines. My husband was in the car and he told me I could not tell my husband anything as he could also be federally prosecuted. My husband asked him how do we know this is not a scam as he called on a Saturday. The scammer said we could check the website or call the police department. He told me that I could speak to my husband and I would need to call him back in 30 minutes. Initially when I called back there was a voicemail message that said his name and department. After 20 minutes when I called the number back the phone would only hang up.
