Scam Description
I applied for a “Personal Assistant” job on Indeed for the Colfe’s School. Once I applied, I shortly got a text that I was selected for the job, and I texted back that I was eager to begin. Almost immediately after, a lady calls me and lets me know that the scam artist are using her phone number, and to not provide any personal details. I then ignored any other text I received. Once I ignored him (Benjamin Harrison), I then received another text from another phone number. This text stated that he shipped out a check, and that when I receive it I should cash it and take it to the local orphanage because they were expecting it. I then ignored his text over the weekend, and when I received the check in the mail today, I texted him and let him know that I was no longer interested. Then, he desperately asked me to cash the check because the orphanage really needed it. I then replied “No, sorry” and I did not hear a response. I discarded the check.
