Scam Description
I applied for a work from home position on LinkedIn. I received an email and they asked me to interview on the Teams app. So I did that with someone named Kelly Peterson. They told me they wanted to send me a check to my address to purchase my office equipment. I received a cashiers check via FedEx for $4700. The whole situation seemed odd for a large sum of money, so I contacted the issuing bank (Banner Bank of Walla Walla Washington) and they informed me the check number I was in possession of was cashed in June of 2007 and was for a MUCH LESS amount than I had in my hand. I have since told the person I know the check is fake and I do not want any contact and now they are threatening me with the FBI via Teams and text.
