Scam Description
I received a text message saying that I was being offered a position as a payroll assistant, saying they got my resume from indeed. They told me I would have to have different kinds of materials to do this job, but when I told them I didn’t have the money to buy these items, they told me a check would be issued of almost $5,000 to purchese the items and for my training period. That I would have to have a local bank or credit union account to be able to cash these checks. They wanted my address and name to send these checks which I didn’t give to them. I did ask them how did I know it wasn’t a scam and they sent back with a link to their website which completely threw me off when I noticed it was a WhatsApp number as their contact line.
