Scam Description

I applied for a Remote Data Entry Operator job on 02/19 via Indeed.com. I was contacted via email from Bamboo HR (notifications@app.banboohr.com) stating that Windjammer Express was interested in my resume. I received an email from Timothy Miller from Bamboo HR giving me instructions on how to download the Signal Messenger application and request for Shelia Hooper. Via Signal Messenger is where I communicated with Shelia with the interview, sent me my offer letter, and telling me to be on the lookout for the check via a carrier. I honestly thought she was talking about a voucher because she gave the list of equipment that I will have to purchase and further stated they have the own vendors I am to get the equipment from.
On 02/22 I reported to work today, I inform Shelia I have not received the check or the tracking number. Her exact words per Signal Messenger, “It’s my duty to notify you that the shipment of your startup check was delayed due to an unseen event with our courier service however the company would improvise by mailing you the check copied for you to print out and deposit using your mobile banking app. I believe you can handle that?”. I then advise Sheila I was not going to deposit a check in my bank account from and unknown company or person, she text back to explain it was company policy for me to receive the check and it has to undergo a verification process before funds could be credited to my account. I told her no again that I was not putting her check into my account and she then start communicating with me
