Scam Description
Applied to a job for a copywriter position on LinkedIn. My application was viewed and I received a text requesting a zoom text chat. “Colin Owen” sent me multiple generic job interview questions, had me upload license, social, and verify my identity via Id.me — all of this was housed in their website — including the id.me widget, which seemed legit but I think it captured my keystrokes (I changed pw once I realized). The guy said he’d set up an interview for 1pm Friday (this interaction happed on a Tuesday) but I never got confirmation. The job listing/company was gone from LinkedIn, but I found the guy on zoom and started drilling him and he went from defensive to trying to convince me to “take the job” but wouldn’t tell me who owned the company or give any proof whatsoever. I looked up the domain and it’s based in Lithuania. I blocked him and froze my credit as best I could in case anyone tries to open something with my license/social.
