Scam Description

I was sent a text by a supposed recruiter telling me my resume was found on careerbuilder.com. My resume is on that site, and I am looking for work. I was told to respond if I wanted to interview for an open position. I did not text. Instead, I opened the company’s website. The recruiter’s photo and name are on the Team page. It appears legitimate. However, some of the language seems to be written by a non-native English speaker. No one ever answers the phone. Also, the company’s address is the Helmsley Building in midtown Manhattan-swanky for an employment agency with 4 employees. I phoned the number from the text I received, despite the fact that the area code was in Indiana. An automated message was unintelligible. I received a 2nd text telling me the recruiter was unavailable, and I should text her. I blocked the number and went on with my day. Next day, I received an email from the same recruiter offering me a job. I would be working for Mr. Pavlovic Bojan at Leoni Wiring Systems (As far as I can tell, a legit German company.) I would receive $60/hr., as I only had to work 7-10 hours per week. The email was poorly written by someone whose first language is not English. Most importantly, it asked for my home address and bank’s name for paycheck purposes. I encounter these scams daily, because my resume is on several job sites. Usually, they hijack LinkedIn profiles of legitimate company recruiters, or use real company names. Perhaps, you see this type of scam all the time, but this is the first time I have encountered what appears to be a fake company website created to scam the trusting and financially desperate. That is the reason for my complaint.
