Scam Description

November 1, 2022
My name is ******* ******, and I live at *** * ********** *** *** **** ********** ** 90302. I recently looked for a remote job where I could work from home. On October 14, I received a job offer from the company listed as Sunshine Logistics LLC. The job is to receive packages, inspect them, and ship them back with a label sent to me from the company. They made me sign a job agreement on October 17, and I signed up on their dashboard registration and sent my California ID on the same day. On October 21, they sent me a W-4 to fill out my tax information, including my SSN. The company seems legitimate, and I had no clue, even today when I wrote this letter, if they were real or a scam.
I began working for them and receiving packages on Oct 22, 2022. The job is simple. They have a website that the employees register on. When a package is on the way, I Accept The Task. Then, when you receive the package, I press the Received button. I inspected the package, took a picture of the package and the packing list, and uploaded them in the space required. After that, I request the shipping label by pressing Requesting Shipping Label. When they send me the shipping label, I download and print the label, and post it on a package after I REMOVE the original label, then ship it through the career service that they provided on the label.
I began to become suspicious when some of the packages were sent to different names but used my address. Another suspicious activity is the fact that I receive envelopes from banks that contain credit cards.
In one occasion, I was told to open an envelope sent to another individual from a bank that consists of credit card, take a picture and uploaded on their site.
Again, it might be my ignorance, not knowing it is their legitimate way of working, but I decided to report to the nearest law enforcement in case something was wrong.
This morning, I called the local Better Business Bureau to get information, and they told me to reach their office in New Jersey, where the company is located. I called there, and they gave me a number for the United States Department of Labor. When I reached there, I was told to go to their website and search the company’s name for its legitimacy. I did, and it shows they are registered businesses with Entity ID.
I went to check their legitimacy but couldn’t find any wrongdoing.
The other thing I tried was to call the company directly and ask if I am legitimately working for them. I called, but it took me to a voicemail where you left a message. I left a message and waiting for them to call me back.
In the meantime, I would like to make this report to ensure that if any unlawful or illegal activity that this company does through me, I’m doing it without my knowledge.
Below is the information I have for the above mentioned company.
