Scam Description
I applied to job ad I found on LinkedIn.com. I responded to job ad for data entry clerk (remote) from a company called BioTech Group Inc., a company based in Florida. I took an assessment test and the interviewer, Ms. Elizabeth Nieslen asked appropriate interview questions. I took an assessment test and two days later, I received a job offer in paper detailing the position and salary and benefits. I accepted the job. On Friday, I received an email from the accounts department. The accounts manager named is listed as Jonathan Wheeler. I was told to deposit a check via mobile app to purchase office equipment. Everything was good until Monday, I found out that my bank account frozen due to possible fraud. A few days later the check was returned. I had to go go the bank and get my account unfrozen. The reason I am skeptical that it is a scam, though it is mostly likely is, is because Biotech Group Inc. never asked me for any money upfront or any social security no. The only thing provided was the address and DOB which is standard info. you give to an employer. That information was used activate my employee account on BioTech Group Inc. which is still active as of today. The HR assistant also instructed me to buy websites from Elementor.com, which is company where one can build their websites. I don’t know why they would have me a buy website builders for a data entry role. It was brought using mostly the bad check and some of my own money I had prior in my account. Neither me nor the bank could find any fraudulent charges. Other than the returned check, everything in my account was normal and approved by me. I think it’s a scam because unsurprisingly, neither the accounts manager or Ms. Nielsen, the HR assistant, responded back to my emails or Telegram messages. Actually, Ms. Nielsen deleted all of our messages and deleted her profile picture, but she was a middle age white woman with blonde hair if that helps with the investigation. I’ve never seen nor heard from the CEO or the accounts manager, Jonathan Wheeler. It is unlikely that they’re going to respond to my emails any further. I decided to report them to the BBB.org, so others can know about this most likely scam on reputable job search sites like LinkedIn.com. or Indeed.com. I called one of the no. on the website and it was out of service, adding more credence that BioTech Group Inc. might be a scam. I hope I can help people avoid job scams.
