Scam Description
I received a call from LPS Group, (California number 949-281-0353), Claims Arbitration. Justin Taylor, employee id number 2261, said I needed to respond within 2 days about a debt I owed from an HSBC credit card. He said we could pay the amount due or a reduced amount to settle. He said if it went to court it would cost $5000. I researched the number online and found 20 or 30 posts about similar experiences with this caller. Then we checked our records, and found our old payoff statement from HSBC. I called him back to say I had found our pay off statement and that I would like to be contacted by their legal department. He said he researched the number online and found nothing. He was irritated and hung up.
