Scam Description
It just so happened at the time that I received this scam I was purchasing many online items from places like Amazon and Walmart. I didn’t stop to think that over the years I have not had any problems with shipments and purchases so I used my credit card to pay for the re-shipment (or so I thought) and would contact the shipper about the charges later. Immediately after using my credit card I realized I made a mistake and watched for an unauthorized use. Also, I talked to my mailman as to the authenticity of the message and he agreed immediately that “I have been had.” Approximately 36 hours later at 1 o’clock in the morning I received a message that I had purchased an item for $161. I contacted my credit card company and informed them of the situation and they took care of it from that point. I have noticed that another charge of $604 was attempted soon after that and the credit card company immediately disallowed that charge also.
