Scam Description

Found job on LinkedIn for COO of Atlassian Rovo product. Initial contact from “HR Mgr” came from (408) 275-2647 via text message from “Mandy Lee”. HR Mgr Mandy (on LinkedIn) insisted their first step was to do a consistent text interview with candidates for fairness – strange. After “passing” that screening interview, I was fast tracked that evening to their “CEO” who wanted to do contact via Skype. Texting interview with CEO first on Skype, though first professional questions, she ended the interview asking questions about how I felt about cryptocurrencies and saying how her rich Uncle Young Guo had helped her make lots of money. I looked him up along with the word “scam” and found a scam warning about “pig slaughtering” which really got my radar up. Finally got Skype video interview with CEO “Lucy Chen” at 7pm in evening. Though Atlassian employs a Lucy Chen in Australia, this role was for California location. Found her to be a beautiful young Chinese woman, and video time was brief and felt more like a date than job interview. She used broken English and commented twice on how good looking I was – which I gracefully dismissed with “we both had good genetics, call home and thank your parents.” She further insisted we “become friends” regardless of the job outcome. She ended the video after 10 minutes, in abrupt manner “because I need to care for my mother. We can continue texting tomorrow.” After another day of swapping messages that again went to her personal financial wealth in cryptocurrencies and she had “taken down her LinkedIn profile because of annoying contacts”. At this stage I was nearing certainty this was only a scam. So I looked up the job again on LinkedIn, only to find it was now taken down. Then this morning, she accidentally sent me a text message on our Skype connection addressing me with another person’s name – “Michael”. At this point, I was certain it was a scam. I have reported the incident and names to Atlassian and now BBB.
