Scam Description
Had a person approach me on facebook marketplace, with a link to their bogus site. Asking me to run a VIN report at their website. I said I wasn’t wanting to click a link to a website I haven’t seen before. He insured me that he has used this site for multiple vin lookups in the past, and that he doesn’t trust the CarFax report I have available. (Doesn’t trust carfax in general.) He said the website is BBB rated. I see the BBB logo is at the top of the website, but I am unable to find any additional information on the site anywhere. Seems like a phishing scam to me! Pretty believable one. He said “Get a report from here and I will come buy the car!”
I told him I will look tomorrow, and he insisted I do it tonight. I don’t trust it at all, and don’t want someone else to fall for the scam either.
