Scam Description
The company, C.P.S sent me a “2024 Biennial Statement.” The statement looks legitimate and appears to coming from a government agency. On the form, they have listed a customer ID number and my DOS ID number and the formation date of my business, which I understand is public knowledge. They claim that if I do not file my biennial statement I may be “prevented from certain business transactions.” They do have a disclaimer that “C.P.S. is not a government agency and does not have a contract with any governmental agency to provide this service.” Upon careful examination and googling the name of the group, I’ve learned that this is a potential scam. They want meto submit $150 to file the report. I know that it only costs $9 to file a biennial statement with the government. I don’t want other businesses, especially new ones, to fall victim to this scam.
