Scam Description
Very official-looking letter, very official-sounding language trying to deceive me into thinking the letter was from my lender or some government agency. The letter claimed I had to respond right away or there would be legal and/or financial consequences concerning some sort of home warranty coverage. (I have no “home warranty.) They mentioned my mortgage lender TWICE, once right above my address in the envelope window, presumably to get me to open it right away. Notably, there was NO return address or contact info of any sort anywhere on the letter or envelope except for the phone number (877) 671-1027 and the name “George Walker,” listed simply as “Program Director.” It was difficult to find even a real company or organization name, and I’m still not quite sure who they’re claiming to be! Smarmiest of all, considering the neighborhood I live in, there was an element of low-income and/or racial targeting here, as the bottom of the letter declared, “Open Juneteenth, Wed., 19th Regular Hours.” I’m very concerned that many people may lose personal information or money to these people.
