Scam Description
Person called claiming to be Amazon verifying a suspicious purchase. Male with phillipines accent, sounded like he was in a call center. Asked me if I had purchsased a MacBook for $1400, I said no and he told me my account had been hacked, asked a bunch of somewhat innocuous questions, gave me a case number, then transferred me to “Amazon’s fraud department.” The woman in the “fraud department” also had a phillipines accent. She asked for case number, then said she needed to make sure she was speaking to the real me so she asked for my social security number and date of birth which I provided. She started asking me questions about the credit cards linked to the Amazon account, when I asked why she needed that info she hung up.
