Scam Description

This scan occurred was at 7am Thursday, February 22, 2024 when I tried to log on to State Farm’s website. A popup showed up saying there was suspicious activity on my account and to call the telephone number listed. I called the number and they said they were State Farm’s fraud department. that my account and my bank account were comprised. According to the person on the phone whose name was Joseph an employee from my bank was a part of the black internet and took 2 withdrawals from my account totaling $15,000.00. He said they were going to put the money back into my account but when the bank opened at 9am I needed to go there and withdraw the money and he then would tall me what to do next. he said to tell the teller that I was doing home repairs. I did just that. Joseph remained on the phone the entire time. He told me we would go to the bank later and that the employee’s name was Mike Rhodes . When I got back into the car he instructed me to go to a bit coin atm. I drove to many that did not work until I got to CoinHub at the BP gas station. After inserting $9700 the machine broke down and would not take any more money. I was feeling very sick and tired (due to medication I was on) and he called me every name in the book. he would not hang up the phone and when we were diconnected he called me back in a couple of seconds and I could not get him off the phone. I have the receipt from Coinhub and the transaction occurred at 11:08am. it was going on 2 pm and he still was on the phone and told me to go home eat something and charge my phone because we would need to find another bit coin machine to finalize the transaction. I got home put my phone on charge disconnected him and called my state farm agent and the police department. My agent called the number and he asked who he was talking to and the man said Michael Rhodes. My agent asked him what company he was with and he said State Farm’s fraud department. My agent asked for his ID number and the man said he didn’t have one. The agent told him that he was not an employee of Sf and hung up the phone. I then filled out a police report. I have contacted every government agency I can think of including the FBI and my city councilman.
