Scam Description

On January 13, I was at JFK airport at NY Sports Bar. They had a Q-Coded Menu, so I used an app on my iPhone called Q-Code Reader. When I scanned the code, I was directed to a web page that asked me to enter my credit card number to pay for my order. I wasn’t immediately suspicious because the last time I was in JFK at a different restaurant, this was exactly the process for ordering and paying for food. I entered my credit card number and immediately knew something was wrong because it directed me to a screen that asked me if I wanted to subscribe to a streaming service for $49.95. I exited the app and deleted it from my phone, believing that my app had somehow been hacked. I called Barclays, holder of my JetBlue card, and said that charge was fraudulent. They were able to remove it but for some reason d-bst.com was able to charge me again and this charge ended up on my card. I am now going through the dispute process with JetBlue – and they actually had a representative from d-bst.com on the phone who said they would not charge me for FUTURE months. I also canceled my credit card and got a replacement. d-bst.com’s website just looks like a scam operation to me. It’s not clear what they do (although looking them up on a “scam tracker” reveals that they are a talent management agency for the real estate sector), there’s placeholder text on the website, and there is no address. They list their location as “Comprehensive Marketing Inc.” I’ve not attempted to contact them by phone or live chat. I would rather not get further involved with their website.
