Scam Description

Windows Defender Message appeared on computer – probably connected to an email. Stating that my computer was locked and could only be fixed by calling Microsoft Support at the given number. When contacted they asked for access to my computer to fix the problem, this would cost $99. Then they told me I needed additional software $120. After paying that, they said the next day they would call to make sure everything was working. The next day they called and said there was another problem and they needed to give me a refund, then they wanted banking information to refund me. I then got suspicious and found out that the whole process was a scam. I did not give them any banking information. I have reported the fraud to my credit card – hopefully to get the $ refunded. I have cancelled my credit card and changed my banking logins. I am concerned that they accessed my computer and my have other identifiable information, but don’t know at this time.
