Scam Description
August 23rd or somewhere around that date, I received a call from a David Miller, informing me that I had won five thousand a week for life from the publisher clearing house sweepstakes. Afterwards he told me to expect a check in the mail. He would call everyday to see if the check had come. Then he told me the check would come from Mary Wood all, this sounded like some Sugar, Honey, Ice, and Tea, but I had to see it through. When the check came I did as requested, when I saw the check, I knew something was wrong. There’s a lot of marking outs and no initials. I told him that I would not do anything with the check because it looked suspicious. Later on I received a call from the lady who wrote the check, sounded like a man to me, she kept telling me that the check was good, and to go on and deposit it, I refused and hung up on her. David called me back with the hour, and told me they would be issuing me a certified check to please shread the check I had. I called the number and it was no longer in service. I have not heard from them again, at least not using that name. Just yesterday, I got a call from a John Ryan, from the IRS, saying, if I don’t except the prize, I will be penalized for the amount of the prize and taken to court I have blocked these people and the still find a way to call. Now when I hear that voice I just call him by the name he used before.
