Scam Description
I was selling 2 chairs on Facebook Marketplace. I had 3 hits almost immediately. The first one (***** * *******) gave me her ph number ************. That area code is not from around my vicinity. So i replied to the 2nd person (Karen Bell). She asked if she could call me. I said “sure “ and gave her my number. She then texted me and said she wanted to make sure I was real and to give her the 6 digit code she sends me. I did this then she sent another 6 digit code about 5 minutes later saying something about taking too long. So I gave her the 2nd 6 digit number. She then stopped all communication. I then
Responded to the 3rd person, a Lillian Mary. She also wanted me to verify I was real. She asked if she could call me to set up a meet. I gave her my cell number but first I had to verify I was real for her safety. She sent me a 6 digit code that I gave to her and she came back with my phone number wouldn’t work, did I have another number or a landline, which I do. I gave her our landline number. She then sent me another code and kept insisting I give it to her. I told her I already gave it to her and I’m beginning to feel like this is a scam. I then deleted all conversation with her and the ad I placed. What are these people doing with our phone numbers?? What should I be looking for??
