Scam Description
The letter said it was from, Cox Communications and that I could no longer pay my bill online because I had entered an invalid e-mail address. I had paid my July bill with no problem and I was suspicious of the letterhead since I had never received mail from them from that address.
I received a letter that said it was from Cox Communications, saying I would no longer be able to pay my bill online because I had entered an invalid e-mail address. They wanted me to go online and correct the information. I was suspicious of the letterhead, but they gave the right contact information for reaching Cox online. Still skeptical I called the local Cox Communication Office and he verified that they had all my online information on file and that the letter should be discarded. I don’t know what would have happened if I had responded to give them this information, but as I mentioned the website they gave for Cox was a legitimate site. But I was glad I called Cox locally.
