Scam Description
Consumer reported to BBB staff an acquaintance of hers sent her a message to tap on a link and you will be in contact with the agent. In about 20 minutes a Barbara Barnett contacted me through messenger stating to complete a form and she was going to check the database to see if I was eligible. To be eligible you have to be mentally/physically disabled, hard of hearing or a retiree. After a few minutes I was told I was eligible but needed to send $250.00 to receive $175,000 from the government grant. SBG Grant is how they referred to this grant. I asked why I needed to send money to the government to receive a grant. I knew immediately something wasn’t right and I was being scammed.
