Scam Description
An ad popped up for a skincare product, “Exfolie Skin Care” that claims to be funded research by Jennifer Anniston and there is also a supposed quote from Christie Brinkly saying she hopes everyone gets to try it.
They offered a free trial sample for S & H of $4.95 so since it looked legit I gave my card # for $4.95. When hitting submit a page pops up that says, order not completed yet. There’s a large coupon with scissor tool to clip, and it says people that got the trial cream also got this item. I didn’t want it so didn’t clip it and just hit continue. Another page popped up that said wait, your order isnt complete yet and showed another item for $49.95, also in a large coupon format with the scissors pic to clip it. I’d had enough and knew now that something wasn’t right. I just left the page instead and no longer interested in completing the sale on the original $4.95 trial size skin cream. A little later I went to my bank account and saw the 3 charges from them even though I did not clip the coupons and the window said it wasn’t completed so hitting continue was the only option!
I immediately called the company and they put you in a queue, and about every 10 seconds a recording states its extremely busy and to select 3 to get a call back while keeping your place in line. The recording then adds if you didn’t get a call back it was probably too late for your time zone to call again tomorrow. I opted to stay on the line and wait. 31 mins and 13 seconds later a different recording comes on repeating your phone number to get a call back or press * to continue to wait. I hit star and the call immediately disconnected! I called right back and the exact process repeated even right down to the second recording coming at 31 minutes before hanging up on you when you hit * to stay holding to speak with someone.
I now couldn’t complete my car payment arrangement to keep from getting it repossessed as I am out of work with no income and just started to do food delivery to scrape by. How unscrupulous & heartless these people are!!
Oh BTW, the charges in my bank account have a different name for each of the charges. “Backtoschoolbasicstati” + “Advancedsmartwatchbest” + “Inevitable Gadgets For”
