Scam Description
Email begins: “We are happy to announce that [business name] has been selected as the Winner for the 2022 Best of [city] Awards in the category of Animal Hospital. Notice to other winners in [city] is happening over the next few weeks. The entire list of winners will be posted on our website after all recipients have been contacted.”
Goes on to share a link to a site to order the award that is pretty complete and even has a semi-plausible reason why the aware is not free. We knew it was a scam because we are in a very small town and are aware of the legitimate award groups, and the mailing address of this supposed awards group is in another state (and also, we’re the only animal hospital for a little ways so it wouldn’t be much of a competition). That being said, this is put together well enough that I can definitely see people falling for this.
