Scam Description
I applied for a proofreading job with a company named Spektrum on LinkedIn. I was emailed by Connor Lewis to follow up on an interview. He emailed me from connorlewis777@spektrumrcs.com and copied his own personal email address (connorlewis0614@gmail.com) to send me some interview questions. Once I answered the questions, he said I had been selected and sent me an employment letter and a check for $3,350. He said this check was to send money to different vendors for equipment and software. I sent the initial request of $385 via Zelle with Wells Fargo. In this post, a woman warns others about a job listing of uncanny familiarity based on my experience. I replied to her comment and had a short conversation with her to confirm the information and discuss the scam. I then contacted my bank, which changed my account number and mailed me a new checking account credit card. I was asked to file a credit report about the scam as well.
